I'm a 23 year old college graduate with a BA in Criminology and minoring in Psychology from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. I am also the proud owner/handler of my female Black Labrador Retriever Seeing Eye Dog, Kazzi. She's wonderful! *loves her guide dog a lot*
I'm legally blind in one eye, I can see a little bit, and totally blind in the other eye. I was born 3 months early and have always been blind. I have been doing self taught art for 7 years. I mainly use Adobe Photoshop CS4 and my 6x9 Intuos3 Wacom tablet. I like all things fantasy, and I occasionally do trades and frequent gifts for friends and artists I admire.
I'm a member of The Winged Wolf Club

Tango: A New Fantasy Wolf RPposted Aug 16th 2007, 10:36PM

This is a very new rp with unique species, and what promises to be a nice friendly community.
There existed two species of intelligent wolves.
The Shetan’aesit was first. These wolves were the rulers of the air, swift and cunning. Their coats ranged from the deepest blacks to snowy white, from the most verdent greens to the sunniest yellows. Equipped with great saber fangs, and wings of leather, coated with the finest feathers they were often arrogant and ruthless. Despite those downfalls the Shetan’aesit were the more intelligent and perhaps moral of the two races. It was for this reason they distrusted their more brightly hued counterparts.
The Verim’koshu was the second. What they lack in flight, they make up for in toughness. Adorned with spikes, quills, antlers, and slashing claws, these beasts were not to be trifled with. No, they saw their winged rivals as a threat, and swore to defeat them, despite their superior strength over the Shetan’aesit. Their coats too varied, in a true spectrum of colors ranging from the fire of autumn leaves to the greens and varied colors of spring.
The two races were on the road to their own demise, each hungry for what power and land they could gain. A swift blow from an aerial attack, or a quick slice from an unseen foe, it was bound to happen. Fate, or the gods, however, intervened, cleaving the Earth so as to drive the two apart, and so they fled, but even the two could not keep their peoples united. Once and then twice more the remnant became separated, until two became eight, and the eight each found their niches in the world. It has been just over twenty centuries since these events changed the world, and the facts of what occoured inn those long ago times are lost to the newer generations. Now four species, each with a subspecies are on a journey. A journey to one of the last plentiful lands the world has left…
Tango.
A place with everything the species could hope for. Towering mountains, plentiful plains, clear running rivers, and it is all for the taking. Until each of the four realized that they are not the only wolves to seek this place out. Strangers, with different habits and cultures, and even stranger mutations have also found this place. They seem frightening at first, but then they seem more…familiar. Never before have the species met, never before have they known of the others as more than mere legend, Four species, eight subspecies, each with its own unique mutation now inhabit one land. Whether there will be war or whether there will be peace. That is yet to be seen, but for now, Tango will bear witness.
I use several techniques.
First I "blob" out the color areas and make sure they all blend nicely
Second I add smaller "blobs" of color showing the different colors of highlight and shadow I want in a given place (this gives the fur a more realistic feel)
Third, I take one of my "fur brushes" (a brush made of a group of dots of varying sizes) and smudge over the "blobs" to give them the look of fur.
Fourth, I then make another layer, and using the same fur brush (except in paint mode instead of smudge) I further refine the fur until I get it how I want.
(the second step is not one I did with this portrait, I did do it with Sylvan Shadows and Koda)
(my brushes can be found in my deviantart gallery, windseeker.deviantart.com, go into my main gallery and search for brushes[they only work with photoshop].)
